What Are Color Enhancing Lenses?
By now, you've probably heard about Color Enhancing lenses. But what are they really. and why should you get a pair?
Sapphire is one of those lenses that stands out right away, but not for the reasons you’d expect. Yeah, the outside has a multi-color mirror that shifts in the light and looks good on just about any frame. But what really matters is how it performs once you put it on. It’s built to give strong contrast, better depth, and a view that feels natural instead of washed out or overly tinted. This is a high light lens. It’s made for bright days where the sun isn’t letting up, on the road, on the water, out on the course, or just being outside for more than a few minutes in the middle of the day. It cuts that harsh brightness down without killing detail, which is where a lot of lenses fall short.

Here’s everything that actually matters when it comes to our lens of the month:
• Mirror Coating: Multi-Colored Green
From the outside, Sapphire has a green mirror that shifts blue depending on the light. It’s not a flat, single tone finish, it has some depth to it. Beyond looks, that mirror helps reflect excess light away from your eyes, which is a big part of why the lens feels comfortable in really bright conditions.
• VLT (Visual Light Transmission): 9%
A 9% Visible Light Transmission puts standard Sapphire in the high sun category. It blocks a large amount of incoming light, which is exactly what you want when you’re out in direct sun for long periods. It’s dark enough to be comfortable at peak brightness, but still clear enough that you’re not losing detail. PRO Sapphire features a VLT of 10%, and AMP Sapphire comes in at around 11% VLT.
• True Color Perception
Even with the contrast boost from the amber/rose base, Sapphire keeps things balanced. Whites don’t look tinted, blues don’t get muted, and everything stays pretty close to how it should look, just sharper and easier to read.
• Available in Standard, PRO Polarized, and AMP
Sapphire isn’t locked into one type of lens, it’s available across all three of our tiers.
Standard Sapphire is your straightforward, solid everyday option. This lens has a VLT of 9% and is made on an amber/rose base for a warm view through.
PRO Polarized Sapphire comes in at 10% VLT, and cuts glare, especially off water, glass, and pavement, and also sits on an amber/rose base. If you deal with reflective environments a lot, this is where you notice the biggest difference. Our PRO lenses are also made to be 3x more durable than standard non-polarized options.
AMP Sapphire adds color enhancing technology into the mix, pulling more separation out of similar tones so things stand out more clearly. With a VLT of 11% and on a natural grey base, this one stands out from our other Sapphire options.
Same lens, just different levels of performance depending on what you need.
• Prescription Ready
If you wear prescription sunglasses, Sapphire is available there too. Same look, same performance, just built to your specs so you don’t have to compromise between vision and sun protection.
• Where It Works Best
Sapphire really shines in consistently bright environments. Think long drives in direct sun, days on the water, open courses, beach days, or even just running errands in places where the sun feels relentless. It handles glare, keeps things sharp, and doesn’t leave your eyes feeling fried after a few hours outside.

Sapphire uses an amber/rose base to boost contrast while keeping colors looking natural.
The 9% VLT makes it a strong option for full sun and high brightness.
The green mirror coating helps reflect light and adds another layer of comfort.
It’s available in Standard, PRO Polarized, AMP, and prescription options.
Sapphire isn’t subtle, but it’s also not overdone. It’s a lens that looks good, handles bright conditions without a problem, and actually improves what you’re seeing instead of just dimming everything down. The combination of the natural base and green mirror hits a really solid middle ground. If you’re spending a lot of time outside and want something that can keep up without feeling harsh or overly dark, this is a solid pick.
